Visit my web site at http://www.lot2learn.com for midi files, notation files and backing tracks used in the making of my videos.

I posted a swing version of Giant Steps a couple of years ago and have had many requests for another version - so here it is. I decided to do this with a "Latin style" rhythm and have added the virtual midi keyboard visualization to help with deciphering my solo.

I attempt to construct a solo that is "musical" and not just a series of "licks" and scales. Phrasing becomes important as well as moving in and out of the key changes smoothly. As time permits I will try to add annotations.

Sorry for the pixelation and video quality. I am working to resolve those issues.

  • Just gorgeous- hip, well-voiced and overflowing with TASTE!

What more can I say? Excellent in all ways.

  • @OrganCat Thank you Ike for the very nice comment. Coming from a professional performer such as yourself it is greatly appreciated.

  • WOW!!!!! I must say, I love this song and wish that I could play it the way coltrane does and i heard many play it their own way but this right here is very smooth tasteful and relaxed! What's the patch that you are using?

  • @drumsnkeys Thanks for your comment. I am using Lounge Lizard VST.

  • Man, this was great...

I first heard Giant Steps with this latin thing to it in a Tony Monaco DVD.

He cooked the basslines with the B3 and the whole trio just had a nice bossa feeling to this song.

You are great... I wish I knew how to play like this.

    kudos!

  • @gcpezzi Thanks for your comment. Yeah, Tony is awesome.

  • Awesome sounds...Cheers!

  • What type of chords are you playing in the left hand, some have four notes and some have three? Are you use fourths most of the time? On the ii-V7s it seems so
