I just got my Canon 50D, but when i switch to M or AV mode, the f number won´t get any lower then 3.5, can anymone help me?

Most likely your lens has a limit. It will be written around the edge of the lens, You will see 3.5-4.5 or something like that. You have to get a more expensive lens if you want to get down lower in f stop. Im sorry to say.

No it won't, Canon has a lens that is an 18-200 EF lens that goes to f2.8 as the lowest. But, hold on to your hat, it is $2400! That is why the top pro shots look so good, Nice soft background. There are 2.8 lenses or lower that will cost you less, but you can't zoom in as far.  Look into getting a 60mm prime lens used on ebay, I think they will go down to 1.8 or so.

I am trying to go fully manual on my 50D but am not able to control the rear control dial, but I am able to zoom in and out to get the F-stop move up and down. How can I use my rear adjustment?
