A brief, humoristic and necessary recall about the French legacy in Britain.

"During the century and a half after the Conquest, there is no English history. The French Kings of England rose to an eminence which was the wonder of all nations (). The Conqueror and his descendants were not Englishmen: most of them were born in France: they spent their lives in France: their speech was French: every high office was for a Frenchman: every acquisition on the Continent estranged them from our population".
Thomas Babington Macauley

  • I'm Engilish and I have to admit that we were dominated by the French all the time, and the Scotland rightly fought us off to defend their country and remain unconquered, I have no shame in it,

We got dominated fair and square, it's just a fact off life, no matter how you try to cut it and no matter how long you try to argue it, the facts still stand.

I ask any English here does it really matter anyway? as we came from what's now modern day Germany and surrounding areas.

  • France is also the mother of Germany

  • @Abbadon380 Very unlikely if your working class. The Upper classes in England the earl and Barons and the royal family can all trace their roots back to France. There is Earls and and Baron's today that own land DIRECTLY from their Norman Baron ancestor, carry the same name and everything direct descendants. You should check the royal family tree as well it goes right back to France. In the Channel Islands even though they belong to the UK our Queen is only a Duchess there.

  • So the french fathered the English and the English(puritans) came to N.ARMERICA so the AMERICANS ARE ACTUALLY FRENCH
