My Candyland Rant

I'm a big fan of the Candyland games. I've loved the games ever since I was a kid and still like the game. I saw the new Candyland version (the 2005 one) in Wal*Mart one day and had to look at the back and was disappointed with what I saw.

It didn't even look anything like the old one that I was used to. They sort of kept it the same but they changed some stuff.

I think they're trying to be multicultural for kids...like kids will really care about something like that...

In the '84 one they had only two kids...

I can't believe they took Plumpy out. Also Qu--erm, PRINCESS Frostine looks like a Barbie doll. Lawsuit from Mattel, anyone?

Hahaha, I laughed out loud at that part! xD I really enjoyed the comparrison between the versions of the game - I was disappointed to see those changes on the box, but there's no WAY I'd buy the new one to see what the difference were. It was really cool to see, though! Thanks for the rant!

The new board game SUCKS.

They should really release a special edition of the 84 version one of these days.

It just reeks of politically correct bullshit, and yet somehow manages to be offensive at the same time. I mean, look at the transformation of Queen Frostine into a Princess. If that isn't some subtle form of sexism, I don't know what is. And oh noes, can't risk promoting obesity or something, let's take out the fat character, nobody likes fat people anyway. Oh, and in the 2010 edition, Gramma Nutt was renamed to Gramma Gooey...gotta be sensitive to the kids with nut allergies, I suppose.

hahaah, you seemed really pissed w/ these new changes. I agree. They shouldn't have updated the look of the game at all. I still wish I had an old-style board.

The 80s version has more style and imagination to it although I liked Gloppy being Chocolate instead of Molasses. I never really liked Molasses lol. I miss that game!!!
