Neşet Ertaş is a Turkish folk music singer, lyrics writer and a virtuoso of the traditional Turkish instrument bağlama. His profession in Turkish is known as "halk şairi", which literally means "folks poet".

He was born in 1938, in Gırtıllar, a village in Kırşehir to his father Muharrem Ertaş, also a halk şairi, and his mother Döne.

Neşet Ertaş interprets musical pieces of the Abdal tradition, following his father.

i get sad i and happy when i see people are not turkish write great comments and that they somthings listen to such music it is nothing wrong with that i thank them but the turkish young many of them dont listen any more te turkish music and somthimes even they are imbarist of it of the clothing the music an the life style of a turk
