When in St. Louis the http://libertyontour.com crew stopped by the sole Community Cafe the company operates. The store's innovative business model - customers aren't charged for their order but given a suggested donation amount - underscores the willingness of individuals to help each other when possible.

For more on people voluntarily helping people, check out David Beito's excellent book "From Mutual Aid to the Welfare State" http://www.amazon.com/Mutual-Aid-Welfare-State-Fraternal/dp/0807848417

  • What an amazing place. I wish there were more like it

  • nice physique man! u make liberty sexy!

  • @mackler false.

  • @antonlee43 Except perhaps for parents and exceptional cases, self-preservation must be the default. It's built into all sentient beings, IMO.

But society is all about working successfully together and we are rarely in extreme survival situations -- except in the mass killings of nature or government.

In normal society there is a lot of generosity and helping kindness of all varieties.

The extreme situation does not invalidate the normal behavior.

  • @bulldogger

Fair enough, you take care also. I hope you'll keep your mind open, and look for ways to solve societal problems peacefully.

The idea that money can be separated from central power is a pipe dream. It's never happened in history, and it never will. If you want to empower the little guy you have to decentralize -- distribute power back to individuals and communities.

  • @antonlee43

Starvation is not the normal scenario. If people care enough about others to vote for government "charity" they care enough to do it themselves -- and far more effectively.

  • These types of liberty videos are a breathe of fresh air. Thank you!!

  • @ninjabunnyman greed is the world's greatest motivator. I would also say that humans are selfish by nature and have taught themselves altruism. Ever watch two people starve? I have. . . and I've seen how the most giving people resort to default (selfish) as a means of self preservation.

  • @mackler yeah sure. whatever you want to call it.

  • @DeraJa If we didn't have taxes there would be anarchy.
