@CasperTheMeanieGhost It depends on how you define "God" and "Theist." Mormons are definitely polytheists, in that, they do believe in God and the existence other Gods as well. Now, if you define "God" as someone who created the universe, then in your definition you would be right.

I'm stunned, but your point is well received and I have literally nothing to say other than: your right! Thanks.

What I think you are really looking for as far as terms would be 'non-biblical’ as ‘heresy’ has nothing to do with adherence to the Bible, rather adherence to the traditions of the Church, particularly the Roman Catholic Church. By the actual meaning of the word, you, me and many others are indeed heretics as we deny the truth of Catholic Dogma. Quite frankly if someone calls me a heretic, I used to be offended, now that I understand the term; I just say, “So what?”
-
"Would you consider these ideas not to be heretical, rather, simply wrong?"
Actually yes. I think that many of us Christians (and I used to be just as guilty of it as anyone else) misunderstand what 'heresy' actually is. The definition of 'heresy' has 3 primary meanings:
a : adherence to a religious opinion contrary to church dogma
b : denial of a revealed truth by a baptized member of the Roman Catholic Church
c : an opinion or doctrine contrary to church dogma
-
...continued.
(those were for Catholicism) - and mormonism: just about everything. Though they may believe in Christ, they don't believe in the same Christ, they believe that men will become gods as Jesus was a man who became God, the belief that Satan and Christ are brothers, racial prejudice of the founders, Jesus revealing another word despite saying that 'it is finished,' ect.
Why? Would you consider these ideas not to be heretical, rather, simply wrong?
Not only are Mormons NOT "Christians", I`m not even convinced they are theists. Correct me if I`m wrong but they don`t even believe in a self existent being who creates the universe. Instead they believe in an infinite regression of beings who create one realm or world after the next. Hell, their doctrine on creation is closer to Raelism than it is to biblical Christianity.
Btw, your rings totally rock :)

This is an interesting video! I'm not entirely clear on what would be your definition of a "real" christian...But I agree completely that Mormons are not Christian, although there are certainly Mormons who are born-again Christians and will be saved despite them still participating in the Mormon church.

Thanks a lot, friend. I know - I completely forgot about addressing what I mean by 'real Christian...' I don't believe that there are 'real Christians' other than the fact that there are professing Christians who are saved, and professing Christians who are not saved ... but these things are a matter of the heart and shouldn't be judged by our own personal convictions of right and wrong. I believe someone is either a Christian (professed), or they are not.
