Gravitational waves are physical phenomena first predicted by Albert Einstein. Across the world, a network of detectors exist which attempt to directly detect gravitational waves hoping to use them to probe violent, astronomical events.

This video focuses on the gravitational wave research taking place at the University of Glasgow. It was produced by Duncan Stewart Smith as part of his postgraduate programme in Interprofessional Science Education and Communication, in collaboration between the Department of Educational Studies and the Deptartment of Physics & Astronomy. The target audience is high school pupils studying physics, and this video could be shown at a University Open Day to give an insight to what physicists do when they are not teaching undergraduate degrees.
