Muravchik Opening Remarks

The day Iran gets its hands on a nuclear bomb, the world will be a far more dangerous place. It will mean the end of the nuclear non-proliferation regime and will greatly increase the danger of nuclear terrorism. The U.S. will also be plunged into a second cold war because Iran is a messianic revolutionary state. Irans dominance in the region will be immeasurably enhanced. Some say we made it through the Cold War and have lived through nuclear weapons in the hands of enemies before, but the lessons of the past do not apply to this situation.
