The League of United Latin American Citizens honored Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, Senator Robert Menendez and Congresswoman Hilda Solis and Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison at its 12th Annual National Legislative Awards Gala to be held on Feb. 11 at the J.W. Marriot in Washington DC. The Legislative Awards were established to recognize individuals who championed those issues that are most important to the Latino community. Gala attendees include Members of Congress, ambassadors, federal officials and Hispanic leaders. The League of United Latin American Citizens, the oldest and largest Hispanic membership organization in the country, advances the economic condition, educational attainment, political influence, health, housing and civil rights of Hispanic Americans through community-based programs operating at more than 700 LULAC councils nationwide.
