  • Actually, sitting back keeps weight back, raising the bow. MOVING back, especially while going off a lip, pushes the bow down. But paddling while leaning back, unless for some reason you want your weight back (and for that it's probably better to adjust the seat back a notch instead) isn't a good position to launch moves from. Neutral or aggressive forward body position give much more power and reach.
