Troy Aikman leads the Sooners in his first game at quarterback against Lou Holtz and Golden Gophers in the Metrodome. Oklahoma would score only 13 points, but the OU defense would hold Minnesota to just 6. The Gophers would 3 hail mary attempts at the end of the game would fail and Sooner Magic would prevail.

Gopher fan here: I remember being 7 years old and in the top row of the dome. Place was rocking. Damn you, Lou Holtz for giving us hope. Of course, Oklahoma took out the close game on us the next year 63-0. Such is life as a Gopher fan.

didn't you notice? in 1985 there were no stupid graphics pasted all over the screen. more graphics means the camera has to pan back farther, making the players smaller, meaning your overpaying for the product. i don't like espn taking over football. the bowl games seemed like nothing special this year.

Look at Lindsey Nelson's wacky jacket and a young Craig Sager. This game wasn't till September 28, yet it was their first game of the season. That would never happen today.

Really tight game, my sooners had a whole month off so, we were really rusty when we played this game. I thought we really were lucky to come out alive....
