see, I really hate to make fun of people and if you were hurt I just cant make fun..... but, I cant see it being a common problem that you stand up to peddle while you shift and flip over the front of your bike. I mean if it happens to you im very sorry but im also sorry when people drive cars into trees, I just dont feel like its something most of us have issues with. unless you slip on ice or have a heart attack or something these things should not happen to normal people on a regular basis.
Exactly the same situation that is mentioned 5:20 nearly cost my life a few years ago. I literally had the choice of being rolled over by a semi truck or falling down a steep slope full of sharp edged stones/rocks. I chose second. There I laid unconscious for hours, face battered, with a severe concussion and heavily sunburned.
I retired from biking but I always was missing it terribly. So, watching this video gives me new courage to start again. - BIG BIG SMILE!!
They all brag about how low cost the production and all... but how about the maintence ? Does liquid get in there ? Does that liquid that turns solid must be replaced ?
Still, the current manual gears are a bit fun, feels like shifting a car, I kinda like it :} But I would trade that for something that doesn't require costly maintenance.
You can, too, shift while pedalling, esp on the cheapest shimano index systems, and the high dollar stuff that is purposely designed to cross 3 or 4 cogs instantly with ramped cassette gear teeth.
This is very nice though. What kind of spread does it equate to?
can this be used in a rickshaw application so once momentum is gained it becomes easier to pull?? and also instead of changing it by hand can it be set on a say 1-25 ratio to 1

I wonder if the range goes low enough for rough mountain biking?

Amazing how we talk something down just to sell something 8-50x more expensive, ugh.

Why can't you make a lighter version?
