I mainly wanted you to hear my freakin' awesome new custom Collings guitar. It's so loud it sounds like it's plugged in. To bad the video doesn't let you hear the actual tone of this amazing guitar. It's a D1AV Varnish Sunburst, if you're into that kind of thing. I waited 6 months for it.

The Dolly Sods is a U.S. Wilderness Area in the Allegheny Mountains of eastern West Virginia, USA. It is part of the Monongahela National Forest. According to the Monongahela National Forest website, "Dolly Sods is said to be a little bit of Canada placed a hair too far south." Sort of like the Canadian girl I married in Virginia, before she lured me up north. We spent some great times backpacking in the Dolly Sods before we left the South.

  • I just picked up a Collings OM-1H. You aren't kidding about Collings guitars being loud and tonally rich. It took nearly a year for the order to come in but it was worth it. The thing is easily 2-2 1/2 times as loud as my Ovation and sounds about 5x better. It reminds me of sitting down at a nice grand piano and playing a really fat chord.

BTW I assume the 'A' in D1AV is for Adirondack wood but what does the V stand for?

  • V is for "Vintage Neck", wide like on old vintage Martin guitars

  • Varnish..........D1 is the model, A is Adirondack top and V is Varnish.

  • The label inside reads "D1AV VARN SB". The "V" is for the vintage (wide) neck option. "VARN" indicates the varnish finish. "SB" for "sunburst" or 'shaded top' as some people call it.

  • Nice playing, wonderful guitar. Thanks for sharing this lovely tune.

  • Thanks, I was mis-informed. Mine is a straight up D1 and it honks..........and it's pretty new on top of that, only opened up for a few months. You can hear it cut through on some of the videos I have posted......especially the ones in Canton.

  • Great sound but then it is a Collings. I have a D2AV Varnish and must agree with the last post. Play it hard and its a real cannon. Much louder than than my Martin HD28.

  • I got a Collings D2HG, traded in a Santa Cruz. I toured the Collings factory and that sold me. Nice guitar! JUmp on that thing hard with a heavy pick and show the people what it will do!

The sound you are hearing is NOTHING compared to what that guitar will do! A Varnish/ Ady top Collings dred will Make banjos shrivle!

  • Hummmm , that guitar sounds like haaaaamonics kind. Verry great.

  • wow!! 5* for the picking and sound.
