In 1961 President Kennedy was advised that he needed to be prepared to send 200,000 troops to Vietnam. In this two part episode of the program, Books of Our Time, Dean Lawrence R. Velvel interviews Gordon M. Goldstein on his book: Lessons In Disaster - McGeorge Bundy And The Path To War In Vietnam. Mr. Goldstein is a scholar of international affairs whose articles have appeared in the New York Times, Newsweek, and The Washington Post.

ACHLS is a revolutionary development in American Higher Education. The ACHLS is a senior completion college: it offers the junior and senior years, not the freshman and sophomore years. Its curriculum focuses exclusively on American History. All courses are taught by the discussion method, not the lecture method. It is truly affordable to students, provides "pathways to law school" for students who wish to attend law school, and equips graduates to pursue other career options as well.

  • This is an extremely important issue relating to the relentless pressures JFK faced on a regular basis to get involved in Military interventions firstly in Cuba, then Laos and then finally in Vietnam against his own best judgement ,it is clear the Militarists had assumed they would be dealing with the compliant Nixon in the white house and not the Peace Minded Liberal from Boston. Were they complicit in his Murder?
