Drama on the high seas was caught on tape by the US Coast Guard. A boat overloaded with Cubans being smuggled into the United States tried to ram a Coast Guard vessel in rough seas. The 36-foot boat refused to stop when the Coast Guard tried to intercept it. The Coast Guard then fire two shots into the vessel's engines to disable it. The boat was found to be carrying 31 Cubans and three people authorities said were smugglers. (2006)

@jessemc2 The 33 at the station near me has Hondas. I'm visiting the station soon to go over a ice rescue presentation. Was hoping to see the new 45ftr that replaced the 41-UTB but due to the water levels in Lake St. Clair (oops, just gave away their position), they didn't get one. The CG doesn't need off shore racers to do their job (but it helps LOL). Power and endurance has always been the plan of the day when the chips are down. Being on a 47 crashing thru the surf is, well, an example.

Motorsbysurf, I guess we know by looking at racecars there are engine builders, and there are drivers. Not both. But I can understand your views on speed and power. However, it's been in my experience that endurance and your crafts ability (not speed) can be the difference between a catch or a 3 day chase. Put one of your "powerboats" in high waves the chase will turn into a rescue. ;-)
