Lara Fabian - Live at the Odeon of Herod Atticus, Acropolis Athens.

Concert "Peace of Heart" with Mario Frangoulis.

Athens, September 24 2008

Lara gives an amazingly touching performance of the song "Horchat hai caliptus" under the amazing piano sound of Mr Pierre Grimard.

Before that she makes a strong point that all children, no matter which side they live, no matter their religion, have the same needs and rights! And all parents, no matter where they live or who they are , want the dream the same for their children's future.... She is so emotional that she has to take a moment before she starts singing because she was crying....

Here is a translation of the lyrics I found, in English:

~~~~The Eucaliptus Forest~~~
When mother came here
Beautiful and young
then Dad built her a house on a hill.
The springs passed
half a century passed
and curls(of hair)aged
became white)in this time.
But on the shore of Jordan
Nothing great happened
The same silence
the same place
Ref:
The Eucaliptus forest
the bridge and the boat
and the salty smell above the water (*2)
Here it comes down the trail,
the group of babies
They are in Jordan paddling with
their legs.
The babies have grown up
they've already learnt to crawl
and the youths
are strolling in pairs.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Thank you Lara for this performance, your message and your pure heart!

  • what a nice versin, where is this singer from? I like her innocent hebrew:)

  • She is Belgian-Italian.

  • In fact, her heritage is Flemish and Sicilian...not Italian - BIG difference. Further info, her father is mostly a transplanted Irishman. She is Belgium by birth. She took Canadian citizenship in the 90s.

  • I just gave the general details... Besides, Sicily is in Italy, isn't it? Of course you probably mean that Sicilians have differences in attitude and custumes than the rest of Italy...

    Lara's grandfather also was American as far as I know and she has an Andalusian aunt, which made her interested in learning spanish too...

  • is she singig in greek ?

  • No this song is in Hebrew...She is singing another song in Greek and English (half -half) in a duet with Mario Frangoulis. The song is called "All alone am I", you will find it in my videos...
