Vote September 15/09 Leslie Reynolds Benns

Leslie is an innovative, committed, results-producing community activist who has been a staunch advocate for the redevelopment of North Temple for the past four years. That project is finally coming to fruition, through no help from some members of the Salt Lake City Council who have been agreeing with our District One councilman that no action was needed. For more than ten years, since the North Temple TRAX light rail was first planned, the incumbent councilman has shown no leadership, and now the city must play catch-up with a tight schedule to get this project completed.
Leslie, in her role as Westpointe Community Council chair, served on the committee to develop the Master Plan for the Northwest Quadrant--a sustainable wetlands protecting mixed-use development west of the Airport. She is very proud of the results, but definitely believes the Master Plan should not take precedence over the planning of North Temple--the entry into Salt Lake City from the airport. We must take care of our existing neighborhoods before we leapfrog to our next development and leave our current community behind.
