clipping only matters for the master except for how some plugins work. but those levels top out at 0db so unless they are lit all the way full they are not clipping. so it looks like it just comes close to clipping at some points but doesn't.
usually meters go to 0 and then have + values, but not these ones. because they are not faders, only used to judge clipping, so there is no need for any boost part of the level meter.
I use ozone 4 for mastering.. And I am going to buy Alloy for individual tracks..if anyone thinks different please post... When I try to use ozone 4 on a vocal track for example I get latancy beyond believe .. Even on the master fader my click track is off by an unacceptable margin .. So I assume most of us have this problem.. Or is my setup?? Will Alloy be the same??
I notice that happens as well. But I love using izotope on my overall mix. Unfortunately I'm still learning about how the individual effects actually affect each track, sound and the overall mix.
By headroom, I was speaking on db below zero. That's what I've always considered to be headroom when speaking in digital terms. Mastering is all about preference and highly dependent on genre in my opinion...But what I was really speaking about is that perhaps he was using a clipping signal on purpose to demonstrate the effect that the plug could have.. it's more likely, i think, that he could have been pushing the gain pre-Alloy to clip into the plug than it is that his raw file was clipped.
