Naveen leading the LPO (at the Royal Festival Hall) in playing one of ARR most beautiful pieces from Roja. We weren't allowed to use cameras in the concert, hence the angle of the video! There was a live orchestra playing behind Naveen which you can't really see in this vid!

Naveen, what a talent, he deservedly got the loudest appluase of the night.

Part of the Southbank Centre's Achemy series of events.

  • Beautiful, but does anyone else think that they had drained out the emotion and the feel that's required for this song? Don't get me wrong, these are incredible musicians, but there's something about a song composed in Indian scale and raag which makes it unique.. that soul was missing perhaps because of their western classical background.. imo..

  • Its the instrument version of the Tamil song in 'Roja' movie 'kaathal rojavae'

  • The one person that disliked this is deaf i guess

  • @trajendran86 you do talk like T Rajendran :)

  • @trajendran86 ok i respect your comment...so if ARR didn't do justice to kaapi raga and if he is not a genius.. why don't you do justice to kaapi raga and compose a song your self and prove yourself right? why hate people who has proved them selves in the world stage already.. is it coz of jealousy that you couldn't make it? give respect for the people who has worked hard to get to that position... nothing comes easily... he worked hard to get to this place... PROVE YOUR SELF.I'LL RESPECT U TOO

  • The ragam is kaapi. And this is actually a shit song in kaapi. In cine music only one song brought out kaapi in all its splendour. And that is sangathil padatha kavithai. This song has 7-8 versions. All of them blow your mind. And then there is this. Rahman is at best a good technician. I have never been able to understand this "Rahman is a genius" non sense. He is at best, above average.

  • m8 seriously... i was there this was by far the best bit of that night specially the beginning... for a while i really was in heaven... the next best was the Swades tracks... thanks for the post
