The path I'm taking is Forest, Cemetery, Ruins, Dungeon, Rocks, Caverns, Fortress.
In Undeadline you can choose any of the 6 stages to begin with. I often choose to go through Forest, Cemetery, and Ruins in that order first. Their the easiest (i think) and after beating them you should've collected enough fairies (3 in the first 6 stages) to boost your stats. Each fairy you collect gives you 1 point to raise 1 of 4 stats: Strength, Magic, Dexterity, Agility. When you're given the opportunity to raise your stats, priority should be given to Agility, you'll want at least 6 here, but an 8 is good. The rest of your points should go to either ST, MG, or DX depending on which character to chose. Leon for Strength, Dino for Magic, and Ruika for Dex. When you're agility reaches 6 then you should be fast enough to get through the remaining 3 stages. I often take Dungeon, Rocks, and then Caverns. You don't have to follow that order but it works best for me.
This playthrough is with Leon, the fighter. So any strategy I mention will be for this character only. He's the most balanced character in the game with average agility and good strength for wielding the Axe. His defense is a shield but can only block enemy projectiles not melee attacks. The shield can block some projectiles thrown by bosses, extremely helpful against the final boss.
Okay, the Forest stage...there's not much to discuss since it's pretty straight forward. The boss is the Cyclops and his predictable. The best weapon to have is the axe.
I think so, the MSX2 release is the original and the other ports are on the Megadrive and X68000. I know for fact Undeadline never made it to the FM-Towns. IIRC the MD and X68000 port share alot in common but just a bit different compared to the MSX2.
