Oakland Police Taze Man

The San Francisco Chronicle reports that the Oakland Police Department is "being inundated with calls from cable news for comment" about this viral YouTube video of an allegedly drunk and disorderly Oakland A's fan being Tasered on Tuesday night when he refused to leave.

The Chronicle writes, "Police say the man appeared to be intoxicated, refused to leave and took a swipe at one of the cops."

"Given his size and his condition the officer thought it appropriate to Taser him," a police spokesman said.

The unidentified man was hospitalized and held for psychiatric observation.

@850shanaynay I mean't if they can't fight a suspect without a taser the SHOULDN'T be police officers, but tasers are for officer safety. That guy squared up on the cops like he wanted to fight them.
