Hi,
I use Indonesian palm sugar called Gula Jawa. The picture of is in this movie. It looks like a cylinder block, the outside wrapper is plastic, marked with GULA JAWA. I don't use the pale kind and always buy the soft Indonesian Gula Jawa. It tastes better too.
Regarding the dessert you are talking about. It is familiar. Does it has banana in it? We call it Kolak. It is common to serve coconut milk, gula jawa, pandan, and a bit salt as the sauce in Indonesian desserts.

YUM! Couple of questions - the palm sugar you used looks SO MUCH easier to handle & A LOT darker than the ones I buy from the asian market - they are a bi@tch to chop & dissolve and almost always end in some bloodshed! What makes your kind different? I also like another southeast asian dessert that uses coconut milk, sugar, pandan, tapioca, bits of taro, and presumably agar. Do you know what it's called and can you please make a video of it if you know how? Thnx
This looks yummy! I'm definitely going to try to make this. It would be great if we could print the recipes out!

Wonderful, a real treat.
One question: how much agar-agar must I use for four cups of water or coconut milk?
Thank you for making such a great programm!
