Check the authenticity of silver jewelry by looking for a stamp that says SS or 925, which stands for sterling silver. Learn about the National Gold and Silver Stamping Act, which requires silver to be stamped with the appropriate markings, with information from a bench jeweler in this free video on silver jewelry.

  • 925 on silver it means 925 g of 1000 grams is pure silver not 92.5 % is pure silver :)

  • does that count for plates forks soons and such?

  • this is a good now you can check your silver

  • If you do any silver buying for hoarding purposes, you might run into a few "lead" walls if you are only looking for 925 or some other form of stamped identification. This can be easily faked, and its being done by the Chinese quite a bit on sites like ebay. Also, those guys in most shopping malls that sell all the big chains and flashy watches? Alot of their stuff comes right from China wholesalers. I know here in VA we have alot of guys pushing fake silver and gold at mall kiosks

  • what is the streling for???

  • That was very helpful. Thank you.

  • Hy i am a gold smith i have been working with gold and other metals for 15 years unfortunaly there are only one type or peur gold and is 24k when it comes out of the refinery we use alloys to get white gold if you have an 18k ring that means tha it have more yellow gold than white alloy the alloy is what gives gold it color the more pure the more yello thint will have if is white gold that is why we rhodium white jewelry to get that nice white color is not a scam is just a proses.
