See how to use a USB Micro SD and SD Memory Card Reader to read Micro SD and SD memory cards. Micro and SD memory cards are used to store and record files in many types of portable electronics like digital cameras, digital camcorders, tablets, smart cell phones, MP3 players, video players, etc.
If your computer or laptop is very old, most likely you'll need a USB Micro SD or SD card reader to read SD cards on your PC via the USB port which you connect your USB SD and Micro SD card reader to.
A USB card reader also comes in handy when your computer can't read a specific brand or type of SD card like SDHC because it is too old or incompatible with your brand of SD memory card.
To use a SD memory card reader, you insert your SD or Micro SD Memory card into the USB Card reader then you plug it in your computer, and a pop-up window should appear asking you if you want to explore the contents of your SD or Micro SD memory card, or you can use "Computer/Windows Explorer or a file manager software" to explore your SD card.
In most cases, your USB card reader would not need driver software since it acts like a hard drive when connected to your computer's USB port. USB card readers usually work with Windows, and Linux by just plugging it into a flash drive.
There are also Micro SD card readers which look like SD cards which you can use to insert directly into your PC's SD memory card slot in your card reader.
You can also use your USB card reader with a SD memory card in it to use as a flash drive. The advantage of using a USB card reader as a flash drive is if the USB connector breaks or falls off, you can take out your SD Card, and put it in a new USB card reader, so you are less likely to suffer data loss.

@yepitdid Indeed, you need a SD Micro SD card adapter or USB Micro SD card reader. Hopefully, newer computers will have Micro SD card readers built-in to them like Cell phones and most Google Android Tablet computers.
