This is a short video-animation to show how a 'Live social feed' (generated from live data out of PlayStation Home, Leaderboards, the games that your Friends are playing etc) could look if it was incorporated into the PS3's XMB.
Short description of the idea:
If you have something that's fun, you'd better make sure that people actually know about it. For instance: Currently, the 'PlayStation Home' icon is hidden somewhere in the menu, easily being mistaken for the PlayStation Store-icon every now and then...
But what if Sony would integrate some sort of 'graphical information stream' into the XMB's Friendslist? Think about:
Examples of things that could be incorporated in this live feed are:
PlayStation Home
• Display information about what Friends are currently doing in Home, using snapshots of their Home avatars) and offer the user to instantly join their friends by pressing SELECT.
• If the promised '3D Trophy room' would finally be added, (even if it would only be for Gold and Platinum Trophies), the live feed could stream info about their latest wins, displaying a snapshot of the Trophy they've won.
Leaderboards
• Asside from Home, there could be additional information displayed, such as top scores in universal Game-specific Leaderboards from the user's Friends (of course, this would require support in future titles)
• A shortcut to Universal Trophy Leaderboards, showing the best player in the user's Friendslist of the past 7 days.
Games / Multiplayer
• Randomly show which (multiplayer-)game 'Friend X' is playing, offering the user to join their session in progress right from the XMB (which is now finally incorporated into Modern Warfare 2).
PlayStation Store
• Recommend a game from the PlayStation Store to the user, because 'Friend X' has been playing it very often.
Asside from it's social value, this little 'feed' could connect all the different aspects of the PlayStation Network, making it more accessible to everyone.
I'm sure you guys can come up with much more good stuff.

looks cool... if you are on a 16:9 tv. but it probably must not fit on a 4:3 tv.
(srry for my bad english.)

There are ways to fix this. It would require some trimming of course.

Great concept. What video editing software did you use to overlay the social feed?
