Been interested to see discussions on here as to the best ballad singer. Paddy Reilly and Liam Clancy seem to be the front runners along of course with Luke Kelly. In my opinion, Paddy Reilly is technically a good singer, very rare, if ever, he drops a note. Liam Clancy has a sweet voice and can put across a song in an exceptional manner. But what, I think, makes Luke Kelly the best of the three is that he feels the song, obvious when you listen and more so when you watch him.

@Ravbo1 The Dubliners kept Ciaran Burke on the Payroll as an honourary group member...... throughout his ill health ....when he was no longer really active as a musician... that's friendship..... a Real Band ......of Brothers

Met Luke and the guys many many times. Glad I lived to see the Dubs live on stage hundreds of times. Just ordinary guys like us all, but each gifted in a very special way. Their like will never be seen again. Sláinte.
