A Happy Mothers Day at The Harrisburg Community Garden included hot dogs, poetry and splashing in the pool. We also dedicated a peach tree to all mothers present and flowers to my Aunt Jean who died last week and Charlene (Barbara's mom) and to mothers who are no longer with us physically but whose memory we wanted to honor. Our poem of the day was Blood Knot by Eileen Kostiner.
Between us mother and son,
there is no line drawn.
You are my male face.
When you take my hand
my right hand takes my left.
Like a seismograph
You record my vibrations.
In your words you speak
what I remember.
Thanks to all who contributed and attended and we look forward to other opportunities to share space and time with you in the garden. Don't forget Coming up, June 4 Community Garden Tour.
