@farhan00 You can try to rewrite history, but the reason Dawa keeps whining is because TF keeps playing Dawa's threat over and over and over again. You seem to think that because Dawa included qualifiers, then that makes his statement non-threatening. Try this out:
I am going to hunt you down like a dog and kill you in the street with a machete, if you do something that I feel warrants it.

While you have some points you seem to be missing the fact that some of the Muslim sects state that they are nearly the same as Christians and Jews. They state that we all worship the same God as well as Jesus (Not True). One other point, currently there is a Christian minister who is being tried for his religion with the penalty being death. So I have to believe that Muslims aren't always tolerant of others. Mosque @ ground Zero as another case.
Just my 2 cents ....

@lazyperfectionist1 It comes back to education. One has to be educated in a topic before talking about it, just like talking about, say, evolution.
Islam has a VAST VAST literary tradition, so you can probably find any quote to justify any position. Quote-mining proves nothing.
Instead, one has to study the normative scholastic tradition from normative scholastic sources.

@farhan00 What if one is under the impression that one understands the criticism one is making, but is mistaken? Is there a way to tell the difference?
You recommend (and I'm paraphrasing) in your video, reading a Quran (or a translation) written by a Muslim scholar. What if the assessment of the scholar in question is accepted by some denominations but not others?
-
@lazyperfectionist1 Enough to understand the criticism one is making and possible responses.
-
@farhan00 How in depth does the knowledge need to be?
-
@lazyperfectionist1 Criticism demands in-depth knowledge of the subject. If a criticism involves the language, one should really know what he's talking about before saying it. Otherwise, it'll sound like a creationist arguing against evolution without understanding it.
-
@lazyperfectionist1 Well obviously. Attacking ANYTHING from a position of ignorance is bad. We learned that with creationists.
So the Sunnis have been killing the Shiite and vice versa for hundreds of years over the disagreements in interpreting the Koran and now you want to blame TF because of death threats made by a muslim?
I think the least the rest of us can ask is for you to first settle your differences before asking us to have any respect for your religion.

@wwickeddogg Except that there was no death threat except in ThunderF00L's mind.
But, ThunderF00L made threatening, violent rhetoric against Muslims
But that's okay because he's an atheist, right?
