I would imagine the Riot officer was struck by a stone, which as seen from other videos is often the only weapon the demonstrators have to defend themselves. If that's the case, he was likely abandoned by his own men, as I can't imagine riot police would travel alone.
The Iranians understand that the police are being used by the regime, and that the harshest reprisals come against police who do not follow orders.
Compassion separates the protesters from this regime.
