This is my 1992 Pontiac Firebird 3.1L V6. The engine is still cold (~+60°C) and the environment temperature is around +5°C.
The car didn't move for a month, so a lot of condensate comes out of the mufflers. The Dynomax "Super Turbo" exhaust system is brand new.
In the upper right of the engine bay is a cold-start regulator (the odd black box), which is necessary to reach "EURO-2" and to save tax.
I think the thick smoke comes from the bad air regulation. Maybe it's not working like it should be :/

  • Where did you get the dynomax exhaust?

  • @reita210 Hi Reita, den gibts bei uspartsonline . de . :)

  • Dude, this car is hella clean, you must baby-ing this car like hell

    haha...

What is the cold-start regulator does? Is this in germany?

  • @andylie Hi! Yes, I live in Germany.

I polish my cars with "Turtle Wax" and they stay shiny for about half a year with it.

The regulator pumps air in the system for about 2-5 minutes to decrease exhaust gases and to save taxes, because you get a higher tax rank with it.

  • @shototsu I see, thats good to know that there are european people out there that also like US Brand car

Questions to the cold-start regulator, does it pumps air into combustion chamber when the engine run in cold condition or to the exhaust manifold where the burnt gasses is wasted? If its pump air to the exhaust manifold, is it to bring down the amount of NOx that produce from engine when its running in cold condition?

  • @andylie The regulator is connected to the intake system. When the catalyzer and the lambda sonde are both cold, the fuel/air-mix won't burn completely and the engine runs pretty rich. The regulator can adjust this "problem", till the operation temperature is reached.
