Maxxam/Pacific Lumber Co. used to hire extraction climbers to forcibly remove tree-sitters. These climbers are not officers of the law, nor are they deputized, yet the Humboldt Co. Sheriff's Dept. goes along with these unlawful arrests. This extraction video is from Greenwood Heights Rd. in Freshwater, CA; a tree-sitter named "Jungle"(now M.I.A.)was being cut out of his lockbox when "Phoenix" attempted to free-climb to the top. The extraction team of Eric Schatz & Co. stopped what they were doing so that they could violently apprehend Phoenix, as you will see in this 6-part series. These unlawful extractions are technically assault, battery, and kidnapping, since the members of the extraction team are neither officers nor are they deputized.
dude. that tree cutter climber guy is retarded....

We stand fully accountable, which is why we voluntarily go to jail and attend our trials. Neither misdemeanors nor infractions are punishable by death, and no private citizen has the right to take justice into their own hands in that way. We count on the civility of civilization to protect our lives and safety, yet some have no regard for either. In contrast, we have never physically hurt anyone, and sought only to save ancient groves and responsible forestry.

Non-violent activists are still committing criminal acts.
But then, liberalism is exactly what's wrong with this country; no accountability for ones' actions.

First off, if you were in this situation, then the tree would be "owned" by the company you work for, not by you.
Second, trespassing is not punishable by death, and is not justification for homicide. The only exception to this law is in a case of breaking and entering, and is clearly a case of self-defense. Knowingly falling a tree with someone in it is murder, and there are almost always video cameras to prove it.

If it's MY tree, and they're TRESPASSING... then the responsibility for their safety is on THEM.
If it's someone else's tree, well... I wouldn't be there kicking them out in the first place. I don't do that kind of work.

We didn't even know about the cameras until the cases went to trial, and nobody would have thought that we would ever have access to them, even if they did notice them. These were not obvious cameras, they were fairly discreet and built into the helmets, so that they would not be broken off during operations. No, activists don't look forward to getting brutalized by cops, loggers, and climbers, trust me. The extraction climbers did not have adequate training, and others were also injured.

Well then, I guess you're maybe not so opposed to spending time in prison.
Non-violent activsts vs. murders...who do you think society would deem to be the better citizen?

the hippie just loved that ox put his foot on him so that he could cry and hope that it looked really bad for the cameras. I like saving big trees but these guys were trespassing and were in the wrong. They are lucky the arborist were such good climbers and got them down without real harm.
