My ex-girlfriend (who indidentally is madder than a box of frogs) took to Karekare. I'd waited about 7 years to visit the place, having only known about its existence through following signposts that started with a Lloyds Bank Tv commercial.
Like I say Megan had never even heard of the movie, and we went there impromptu. When we got there she started doing cartwheels on the shore, just like Anna Paquin here. It was the first thing she did.
Telling you man that place is f***ing haunted!

You will rarely find a stretch of beach anywhere in the world with as much character as Karekare, location of these scenes.There's a toilet around 10 minutes walk away but that's it for buildings. A truly special, haunting place.
