Just a video about a project I'm working on.

Update: I did do some measurements on my current dhcp server, and got some surprising results!

Idle current is 1.2A, which I suppose isn't too surprising, but was I think is surprising is that I got the system to a 6.0 load average and it only went up to 1.25A or so. I thought computers used more juice when they were at full load. Hmm..

when it's needed. It's a moot point now. I started the machine and both hard drives have died since I last powered it up a few months ago. :( I can netboot it but that defeats the purpose.

I considered that. I have some systems that use static IP's, but I have some people that come over once in a while and want to use my connection while they're here, which is fine, so it's easy to just have DHCP so I just have to type in my wireless password. I was going to just have it so the devices that I know will have a lease (my cell phones and our laptops) but others will show up and if I'm not expecting it I know I have a problem. I suppose I could just set up statics and only use dhcp

well its 2:48 here .. I've got about 4-5 Sparc systems like that SS2 SS5 SS10 a U1E and a U10 I'd like to fiddle with them someday perhaps write a little Sparc kernel... have you considered using a Static IPs and mac address filtering? maybe make a way to set that up easily on the SS20 like an add remove UI or something?
