Natasha of Storynory reads Robert Brownings Poem about the most famous rat-charmer and catcher in history. The words are synced with the beautiful illustrations of Kate Greenaway (1846-1901).
Yes it also alludes to the Children's Crusade in which many children in Europe went to Jerusalem to free the city and reclaim it for the Church. The cave they go into represents heaven and that is why the townspeople never saw their children anymore. The children all either died or were taken into captivity in their journey and never returned home from the crusade.
this poem actually alludes to the amount of east european jews that spread throughout western europe in the middle ages, they where universally hated in the medieval times.
