Dota 2: Purge talks Lanes

Here is a general overview of why you lane the way you do, and how to change your picking as a result. First step is to learn all of the heroes and generally how to play them, and then pick accordingly.

I also forgot to mention the 1 carry 1 ranged support lane mid. Please excuse this slip of the mind(but most pub players don't do this anyways so no big deal.

Dazzle solo lane? I thought he was a babysitter... am I playing him wrong or what?

@Icebitten He can babysit okay but on a very high level his midgame contribution is pretty meh. Heroes like CM or Lich can babysit much better without farm and contribute more in the mid game(as well as gank). So basically Dazzle is a better solo into support.

@Purge: Awesome explanation...you do cover the basics very well..do you prescribe normal pulling without stacking in a lane or stacking first?

Also how do you suggest supports should farm for their minimum required/utility items like boots/force staff etc ? Should they break away from support for some farm or just let the timely gold accumulate?

@EyNoCheating If your carry is safe in his farm(and getting free farm) then you want to stack then pull(if you don't want to push). If you want to push, a single pull is fine because it stacks your 2 waves on the next come through.

Other than getting successful ganks, supports should not spend a lot of time farming, at least/especially in the early game. With a little roam/gank/pull they can almost always afford the stuff they need(wards/boots/bracer/dust).

Purge you are confusing long and short lane. The long lane is the harder one and the shorter is the easier one.

@Midnighto1l This is why I said it was confusing! The confusing part is if you're talking about the distance from enemy tower to enemy tower, or from your base to your tower. "easy" and "hard" lane are much less confusing.

@ru40342 I dont do it on purpose. I just get kills often when I play support. which is rare. I cant stand playing support heroes. but I do give props to people that do. its a lot harder than people think it is. I play Hard-Carry and carry, I enjoy farming and trying to best the other teams carry. I would never play tide carry in a serious game, thats just dumb, but for pub stomping, sure get deso assault on lina for lols

you can pull neutral, lane when your carry going back to base, get $ with successful ganking / team fight or you can join a jungler to kill neutral. You don't need force staff as support coz it's for semi carry. Just boots, some basic stat items and all d $ go to wands, carrier, smoke etc. If you are accidentally rich, go for survivability items such as stat items or cheap team contributing items such as arcane boots.

Man purge I hate Pub game. Everybody wanna be carry, everybody wanna get all last hit, everybody wanna get mid with terrible skill level. I had one game where I play shadow shaman and have to fight for cs in the mid with antimage and drow ranger. At the end i just change to top (playing Radiant). I think you need to educate the dota community more so that they learn the metagame and don't play like idiot and fight for cs with the hard carry. Thanks purge!

@Aznganxter1 As a single player? BKB/Linken's, stun/silence them before they cast their spells, or disjoint the first stun. If they land the first stun on you and proceed to chain their stuns, you're dead.

If you're with a team, all of the above still apply, but you can usually rely on teammates to cast some of their stuns to help you out.
