North Eleuthera Shopping Centre -

The Island has a good selection of Grocery Stores - There's a great one in Rock Sound, the one in Governor's Harbour was a bit dark and small but still had a great selection - but the one on the way to the Bluff in North Eleuthera was the biggest and had the best selection of just about everything. - Eleuthera's version of the megastore / walmart. Bright, clean, cool - tons of food and all the other stuff. North to Spanish Wells -take the turnoff to The Bluff on the way to Spanish Wells/ Preachers Cave -can't miss it.

Da beer ? What kind of shopper would I be if I didn't check the beer first ? Unfortunately, unlike the States where you can buy beer everywhere, the Bahamas is more like Canada - got to go to the beerstore. Which of course are everywhere. Small little corner stores. For a 6 pack I usually paid about $2 a beer - @ Elvina's on a good nite a cold beer was $2.50. Now the Rum ..that was different - dirt cheap - but bland . We took a bottle of Canadian dark rum with us ...made new friends with it .;)

For the Bahamas, for Eleuthera- the prices were good. - in all 3 big stores. Just like back home you only really pay heavy at the little corner stores. But also the quality was there - particularly in the fresh fruits and vegetables - which some appeared to have been grown locally . North Eleuthera had a nice butcher shop as well. We didn't buy any 'household goods' but just having selection was impressive .
