You brought up the subject of respect. Bush and anyone that voted for him were disrespected. Don't try to tell me you voted for Bush when you respect Olberman. I was born at night but it wasn't last night.

He has the right not to vote, but he does not have the right to tell people how to conduct themselves, call them stupid if they disagree with what he feels should be American policy, and not vote.
For someone who alleges to be a political commentator on a national TV program, he should be registered to vote, and go to the poll, even if he does not pull a lever, even that is making a statement.

Those screechy voiced harridans don't even let him explain that as a symbolic gesture, that abstaining from a vote is a declaration of non-confidence in the candidature.
Regardless of your political views, if you do not believe in either of the candidates as sound leaders and think that they only represent oversimplified, illusionary standpoints, (liberal or conservative) then abstaining is a legitimate way of protesting.

No, he is a jerk for telling his viewers to vote when he himself does not. Very hypocritical. It is his privilege to vote or not. This has nothing to do with anyones' personal political views.

There's a marked difference between apathy and abstaining. People in nations that have open votes don't abstain consciously (though they might be subconsciously aware of the lack of a real choice in candidates), they simply don't care.
Moreover, this doesn't reveal the context. Your comments claim "never", but I think that the context of never is for presidential candidates. Local voting is just as important, and I think you're making a brash generalization with that comment.

And where do you get the idea he has ever voted for anything? He claims in this video he has never voted. As the ladies point out, how can he have a platform and be angry if he doesn't vote. Very hypocritical of him. His statement that it is a 'symbolic gesture' is laughable. He could not explain or answer one question asked of him. He hemhawed and looked a fool. This video has nothing to do with other nations, this is about Olbermans hypocracy only.

Given that the question was "Did you vote this time" and that this video was posted after the presidential election, this is what he's referring to. The inference doesn't stand in this case.
Secondly, he isn't even given the chance to respond, at which point he's cut for commercial.
Finally, I was referring to other nations that have the vote to demonstrate the power of abstention, which Oblermann invokes. Also, learn how to spell hypocrisy, just for future reference.

If you listen to what is said and not what you want to hear, they say to him 'you have never voted' and he agrees with them and says 'I don't vote.' Barbara refers to him 'as the master' so this is their hero, just as he appears to be yours. They put him on the spot, he choked, they saved him. Once again, this video is not about other nations, it is about Olberman.
