White Ribbon Alliance's Farhana Ahmad reports directly from the London Summit on Family Planning convened by the UK Government (DFID - UK Department for International Development) and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. The Summit saw historical political commitments and new pledges to transform the lives of millions of women and girls.
Through interviews with the Government of Bangladesh, the Vice President of Malawi, the President of the, the Director of PMNCH and the Editor ofThe Lancet we reflect on the summit and ask how the resources promised in London, will reach the women who need them.

Contraceptives increase promiscuity...and hormonal contraceptives can cause many health problems. People need EDUCATION about how babies are made and how to naturally prevent it. Just giving people a "pill" is not going to fix the problem. Sex related crimes and sexually transmitted disease will increase with a widespread use of contraceptives. The fear and obligation of potentially have a pregnancy deter many people from having intercourse, but contraceptives give freedom from responsibility.
