@srcej6 it's not like they program the side airbags to come out in a frontal crash test, it depends on where the sensors for the side air bags are, and how much pressure is sensed with them. Look at the 2006 Kia Sedona for example, it has standard side airbags, and they don't go off in the crash test.
Head hitting the steering wheel, possibly dashboard... side curtain airbags seems not to work the right way... looks not safe at all...just my 2 cents...
