In a 1998 general conference address in which he addressed the issue of Latter-day Saints with same-sex attraction, President Gordon B. Hinckley of the LDS Church expressed his love for them as sons and daughters of God, and added that "if they do not act upon [their same-sex] inclinations, then they can go forward as do all other members of the Church." The short film Go Forward powerfully tells of one Latter-day Saint's journey to take President Hinckley at his word.

"Embracing Our Homosexual Children" tells about an LDS family with eleven children, in which four are homosexual.

As the 1st part in a 3 part series, these films have been produced for the Mormon audience to gently educate them about homosexuality. These videos have been shown with wide acceptance among Bishops, Church members, therapists, PFLAG members from various religious backgrounds, as well as within the Mormon gay community.

  • Gays have always been here even before the arrival of mormons in utah or anywhere else, but they followed a certain way of life, and were highly regarded among different people. But then these people came and said "thats a sin!" and "god hates that!" these people follow writings in a book, but really each of us must have a 1 on 1 relationship with the creator (god) Not going to a building to pray once a week, do it every day anytime, anywhere.

  • I can say that i am proud of this man. He is indeed a full man no matter what whether he is gay or not.

  • @jcbgtr Because they feel that he is being forced by an institution to live in a way in which he will never be able to have the joy of a relationship.

  • Is it just me....or does "Peculiar people" sound like a poor choice of title given that most of the world will not understand it in the mormon context, and just think they are calling gays peculiar.........

  • How can so many people dislike this video? He is an honest guy who is active in the church and living all the commandments!!

  • Never love someone, never be with someone, never marry.., how depressing is that? I hope he leaves to church sometime soon. He should be able to have a loving committed relationship with another guy. If he shouldn't "act on the feelings" I guess straights shouldn't either. The thing is we are all equal, we are all of the same flesh, same bones and we all deserve to be treated as an equal. We shouldnt give straights or gays more rights.... Just equal. I think a lot of our countries problems are

  • Homosexuality is not a choice...gays should be allowed to do anything a straight can do.

  • Shel-tered! :D But great guy!

  • This is so terribly sad but I'm glad it ends well. I spent several years in Utah although I am not LDS. So many people are in pain and cannot be themselves, trying always to conform to the rules of the church. I hope the church learns to truly embrace all its members, because there have been way too many suicides caused by this situation. I also hope these men (and women) will eventually allow themselves to leave the church if it cannot accept them for who they truly are.
