You could just play C-E -G and then put your thumb under and play high C with your thumb. You can easily play any arpeggio this way. Major, minor Seventh, & diminished arpeggios can all be played by putting the thumb under, and you can make it sound legato or staccato, up or down for several octaves.

I'm a total newb on piano, but I think that would slow you down a bit. Seems like it's fine to begin with, but a habit you might want to drop when and if you want to go faster, although you could probably go fast enough with the techniuque you described. It all depends on your style and how good you are at it. Do what fits you best, and adjust as neccessary. That's my advice.
