Rob it's not really shaped for terrific lows.
Yukon I'm sure it sounds better than the 214. The 214 is Laminate, and I'm sure it's just a matter of time before you've got better than the 314 :P. I'm 19 and just finished my first acoustic guitar that I built and it's a rosewood dread and it sounds way better than my Taylor 214.

In any case, it sounds different that a 214 because of the different body styling. The tone is really shaping up nicely on it but even so comparing it with the 314 seems nearly redundant because both are great, yet very different, depends really on the application. I like them both.

i'd say it sounds even better than my taylor 214ce. D: im quite jealous now XD

I doubt it, I own a Taylor 314ce which has more balanced and clearer tone compared to this one, this one is very quiet compared, but has more a woody sound than the Taylor. I would rate a Taylor higher than this, but then again I know the guitar well.
