Unfortunately, many employees for Gannet Co. are left jobless after staff reduction this past week. On Tuesday, Gannet announced job cuts at six of its newspapers in New Jersey.
120 full- and part- time jobs were eliminated from its facilities in Neptune, Cherry Hill, East Brunswick, Bridgewater, Parsippany, and in Vineland. A specific breakdown of how many employees at each facility was not released.
However, according to reports, Gannet did provide severance packages to employees that were released.
According to Gannet, the layoffs are part of a plan to eliminate 1,000 jobs throughout the U.S. The company says deteriorating business conditions are responsible for the layoffs.
