I suppose it reminded him of his childhood..perhaps his mother had this playing while she was at work, and he was lying awake listening to it.

The music cuts off before the movement ends.

This particular recording should be about 12:39. That's what it is on itunes... three beautiful minutes are missing from this video...
-
Funny because I'm performing a piece called 'Pierre Boulez a la discoteque' and the Turangalila next month...

Looks like Boulez has disliked this. :P

Cette longue mélodie ornée est si charmante.

? le 5e mv. Les ondes Martenot, j'ai manqué de patience avec cet instrument. Pourtant j'avais la prof: Jeanne la soeur.

Boulez was so jealous and envious, haahha.
Besides, is like the sunset in one of those villages with ancient temples inIndia. You can lsiten to many rumours, the night soon to come and still some birds and other creatures singing, chirping, and so on

@GreggaryPeccary He found it cheap and cloying, like a whore who sprays on perfume between tricks to mask the scent of her last customer. I don't agree :)
To hell with Boulez! What stupid comments he gives!

Our record collection is strikingly similar!
I never quite understood what Boulez meant by "brothel music"...
