One of the most recent advances for GMs transmission portfolio is the large scale availability of six-speed automatic transmissions across a wide range of GM cars and trucks. Six-speed automatics are available in GM vehicles from small cars to SUVs and pick-up trucks and provide increased fuel economy and performance while reducing acceleration times and wear and tear. Learn more about this technology and the cars that will use it.

  • how reliable are they ?

  • I suppose the 6 speed transmission WOULD save even better on gas if they didn't get the gearing so high on a lot of these new models.

  • yeah good to know HOW it works. they did say that didn't they -.-

  • GM = GOVERNMENT MOTOR. what does the goverment know about building cars?

  • Gm, it would be much better to use just a single fixed gear on an electric motor. why are you all still so retarded?

series hybrid plugin with a relatively small battery pack. are you so evil that only total destruction of GM will change your ways? are you incabapable of becoming reasonable. the GM Volt is nowhere near enough. no models should have just combustion engine drive. not one. series hybrid or better.

  • exactly

  • Keeping our business and money circulating here? I couldn't agree more. But take note and this is to everyone Unions don't drive companies to export american jobs. Greed does.

  • Hey...as long as we're keepin' our money where it belongs right?

  • @ tamaninja00. Well you did say....... "all because they let the union get them by the balls." .... Now what did THAT mean. Hey if I assumed then great, I would definetly hope that you aren't anti union. I was genuine when I said it was good for you and others to buy from Ford. I only got my Pontiac G5 from GM because I got it brand new paid in full for $8,100 dollars. Ford couldn't beat that with their focus. My budget kept me from buying more expensive. Ford is definetly good.

  • There ya go...you're assuming. Can't do that. I'm in no way anti-union. Unions do more good than bad, and I support them whole-heartedly!! I've driven GM's all my life, and they've done nothing but give me grief. I tried Ford...and i've been pleased with them ever since. Again...not trying to turn it into a gm vs Ford thing, but if I remember correctly,Ford did sign a very nice agreement with the UAW before everything turned to shit.I think that's what really helped save them in this economy.
