Sydney Land cable Installation

The land duct route comprised a P100 duct which was subsequently sub-ducted with 3 off 32mm sub-ducts. Tyco have now installed one cable in each sub-duct the fibre cable, the submarine power cable and the system earth cable. The three cables were installed by blowing the cables down the sub-ducts with compressed air. Due to the length of nearly 1.5km and the various bends in the route, each cable was blown in three stages with the cable being flaked out at intermediate manholes then the compressor equipment being relocated to that site to blow the next stage. Cables were tested prior to and following installation and no changes identified. Another box ticked towards project completion.
