see, religion was originally a way for people to be controlled. people were breaking laws and we needed a way to stop it. so we said that you'd burn in hell for breaking laws. and heaven came as the good counterpart of hell. so came god and satan. and a book (the bible) to make the stories more believable. obviously they painted satan and hell as a horrible place to be, to scare people into conforming with the laws of religion in medieval times
