@mopbrothers During the medieval ages combat did not put much focus on formations which a big shield would favor. Most of the focus was on improving armor. The buckler was used only by medieval archers, that way they could shoot a bow and arrow and still defend themselves in hand to hand.

@ShowYourWorking I had to look up and recall the legend of Romulus and Remus because I did remember something.The two brothers were nursed by a female wolf. I suppose the wolf then was honored as an important animal that started the very nation of Rome.
Of course, the eagle took the wolf's place in the imperial times, symbolizing the full glory of the empire. But for tradition's sake, I would have kept the wolf, because the nation was started by just two Trojan children. :)
