Yet another masterpiece from Lars von Trier that has won Cannes Palm d'Or.
Selma has emigrated with her son from Central Europe to America. The year is 1964. Selma works day and night to save her son from the same disease she suffers from, a disease that inevitably will make her blind. But Selma has the energy to live because of her secret! She loves musicals. When life feels tough she can pretend that she is in the wonderful world of musicals...just for a short moment. All happiness life is not able to give her she finds there...

SEE THIS MOVIE. The first 10 or so minutes are choppy, but as you get into the movie, you will be paralyzed. I watched this with a giddy "girl movie" fan, a "slasher" fan, and a "reality TV" fan, all wanted to bug out, but I made them stay. They stared at the screen for 10 minutes after the movie ended. The CD "Selma Songs" is just another gift from Bjork.

Lars von Trier made the perfect choice in Bjork. The media slayed her after her performance on the Academy Awards because of her attire. She is a singer, not a designer. Who knows if this was her reason for rejecting future scripts. The media destroyed any chance of us seeing her talents in this genre again. And she isa true original and will be sorely missed when she is gone. I use many of Bjorks videos to promote the emotional execution of my blog: open.salon.com/blog/dlschuch
